Ringmaster

So, after completing the Circus Flower girl dress, I set out to make a little Ringmaster jacket for the flower girl's little brother. I was sure that such a thing would be a breeze.

I was forced, once again, to eat my words. Jackets are not that easy. Especially when you've never done one before. Aaaaaand you decide to make up the pattern as you go. (In my defence here, I couldn't find a pattern in the right size...)

Anyway... I think I redid every single piece on this coat at least once. I came into a lot of snags and had to fix them in... creative ways. It didn't come out as well as I had hoped. If I had had more time, I think I would have been able to do it much better... (So next time, I won't procrastinate so long!! lol!)

Anyway, I was also only able to snap a few quick, poorly lit pictures before I got it to them. You know, the day before they were leaving for the wedding. *sheepish grin**

So, all my self deprecating comments to the side, here it is - a mini ringmaster jacket...

I will be buying a jacket pattern and making one for my boy. Just so I can make one with instructions and learn how this was suppose to be done! lol! But, for all the set-backs, I am pleased with it. When they get pictures of the kids in these outfits, I'll post them, or a link! I can't wait to see them myself! :)

  1. This is SO cute!! I'd like to say it was worth the trouble, but I suppose that's not for me to decide. :)

  3. I can't believe you did that without a pattern. Incredible. If I ever start making clothes, I am coming over to your house so you can hold my hand.

  6. Completely impressive, as usual. Since I had to make things from scratch in college clothing and textiles classes, I never sew without a pattern now--the frustration level just is too great for me. But if I had your natural talent, maybe I'd jump in and go anyway. That's jacket is so very cute! Terrific job!
