The Wedding Quilt

Yesterday was one of the sweetest of all days. My sweet sister in law was married to her sweetheart in the St. George LDS temple. As a quick back story, a year and a half ago we didn't know if this amazing woman was going to live. Then, thankfully, in November of 2010, she was blessed to receive a much (much) needed liver transplant. As she began to heal and live again, she met a wonderful, sweet man and yesterday filled her dream of marriage. So many miracles. We feel so blessed.

So, as I mentioned, this week I made this quilt as a gift for them:

I really do love how these 6 point stars turned out. Y seams aren't too bad once you get used to them. I will be posting a tutorial for this very soon!

I backed it in flannel. Because I love soft, snugly backs! :)

I quilted with a meandering stipple. Mostly because it's fast. haha! But I love the way to turned out!

I am so pleased with this quilt!!

WIP Wednesday

Here we go!

M's Wedding Quilt:

So, on Saturday, I had one of those "Holy Moly!" moments when I realized that my sister in law's wedding was a week away! And I had done not a thing by way of a gift. So, I did what any quilter would do... I went and bought fabric! :)

After my 6 pointed star, I thought it would be really pretty to do a quilt for her with those. Then I thought, "Hey, I have a diamond die for my Accuquilt! That will work!" So I calculated, bought all of the fabric, cut all of the fabric, then - and only then - did I realize what I had gotten myself into...

Y seams.

I've done a few before, but not many. But, I was well past the point of no return, so I forged ahead. The first 3 were my learning curve. They weren't bad, but certainly not great. Here - my first...

But, fortunately, I figured out a lot of tricks as I went and they got much, MUCH better! Here's my last!

Yea! I actually finished the quilt last night, but I sill need to get pictures, so stay tuned!! Also, I will be putting together a tutorial for this block very soon!!
E's King Size:

I am going to quilt on a long arm quilting machine for the first time this Saturday!! YEA! And the best part - I get to meet Melissa, of Happy Quilting fame!!! YEA!!

Wedding Project:

Our first shoot is coming up and I have the Western Wedding Skirt planned and cut out! I think it's going to turn out really great!!

Playing catch up

So I have spent the last few days playing catch up on the Skill Builder Sampler blocks. This month is odd shapes. I already showed you the Apple Core block - but here it is again...

Then, I did my first Tumbler block. I LOVE this block (although I need practice matching the seams on these! lol!)

Last, this morning I did this weeks block - Equilateral Triangles. I have done many, many of these and they are a favorite of mine!

I love this six point star pattern. I think I am going to make a whole quilt of these! :)

Now, I am officially caught up! I am so glad! I have loved this quilt a long. I think we only have 6 blocks left! I can't believe it!!

Apple Core

I feel like I dropped off the face of the sewing world there for a while. We had a super fun vacataion, though!! I LOVE San Diego!!

Anyway, yesterday I finally turned on my sewing machine again and tried something new!!

For our Skill Builder Sampler blocks this month, we are doing odd shapes, and this week it's Apple Cores. I have been really scared of this one. And for good reason. They are NOT easy!! The entire time, I kept thinking, "I will never be doing this again!!" But then, I finished, and this was the result:

That hard work was not for nothing! It is CUTE!!! Maybe (maybe) I will do more Apple cores. They are fabulous looking!! Here's to trying new things!! :)

Pictures of my girl!!

I am so excited! My awesome photographer and friend, Valerie Hart, posted all of the beautiful pictures of my little gal in her baptism dress!!! They are simply gorgeous! Please check them out!!!

Semi Truck!!

So for the month of April, our Beejeebers blocks, for Melissa, are Semi Trucks!! How fun is that? I wanted to get mine done asap as we are going to California in a few days for a week... so here it is... my Semi-Truck!!

For whatever reason, flame fabric was the only option. I guess deep down I know that if I drove truck, it would have to have flames on it. No other choice really. And another thing... the whole time I was working on this, I kept humming "Born to be Wild" and "Highway to Hell." I'm not really sure why... lol!

And on the trailer - another fine example of the never ending versatility of half square trinangles. Seriously, is there anything those things can't do? :)

I am linking up to Melissa's TNT Thursday, as this is my first time piecing an automobil. Cool stuff! :)
