Bottled Rainbow - Complete!

I am SO thrilled with how my Bottled Rainbow turned out!! Yay!! This has been a wonderful project - one of my favorites!! I would like to thank Rachel at Stitched in Color for hosting this wonderful quilt-a-long!!

So, with no further adu - my Bottled Rainbow Quilt - all done!!

Finished size: 68 x 84

I don't use it often, but I did back this one with minky. The last quilt I used minky on was the Supernova, that I gave to my hubby. Well... I kept stealing it from him (it's so snuggly!!), so I decided to splurge and back this one with minky for ME. So he could keep his... You know - keeping the peace! lol!

The binding was from Riley Blake's "Feeling Groovy" line. It's flannel. The only reason I decided this was okay was because I was using minky on the back, so a flannel binding would be okay. Well, that's just how I justified it. Truth be told, I just loved it so much, and it was SO perfect, I just HAD to use it!!! :)

This has been so fun! I am kind of thinking that a weekly ticker tape block may still be in order, because they are SO fun! This is now my very own snuggle-on-the-couch quilt! Yay!!

As I have mentioned, I made this for my hubby, so I made it how I knew he would like it - which meant light quilting. He loves the back to be soft, and prefers minimal quilting for that.


To accomplish as little quilting as possible on the back, I quilted the top in straight lines just onto the batting. Then, I basted that to the back and quilted just the outlines of the big blocks. It turned out great.

And I was so excited, that I gave it to him yesterday! Two weeks early. :) He loves it!!


I am thrilled to have participated in this amazing quilt-a-long, and would like to thank Lee for hosting it, and sharing this truly amazing pattern with us. I will absolutely be making another Supernova in the very near future!!!

Quilt-A-Long step 1

Soooooo - I laid out all of my squares for step one of the Quilt along. As I mentioned, I was using scraps.

They looked terrible. Seriously.

So, I went to my drawer and looked through until I found a fat quarter bundle near the bottom. I had a bundle in boy and girl colors. I had forgotten about them. Now, I am doing the quilt with the boy bundle. Well - half of the boy bundle. Here's the first step!

Three 16-patches. Not what I expected, but I am glad it was easy! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
