Bella Patchwork Wedding Quilt Finish!

I had a second marvelous finish last week! A quilt made with the Bella Patchwork pattern, by the ever lovely Elizabeth D!

I am blessed to have a quilting neighbor. This was the first time we've actually done a quilt together, but it will definitely not be the last! We had a blast tag teaming this quilt! To my awesome neighbor and friend, Shelley - Thank you! This was such a fun project to do together! Shopping for fabric was the funnest! :)

Anyway, we made this quilt as a wedding gift for a mutual friend. I hope that they love it! So, here it is - Bella Patchwork in shades of grey and yellow!!

The backing is an awesome grey flannel - perfect for snuggling! And I love the sashing we added! I think this one is a real winner!

Stats: Size: generous throw size about 66 x 80
Pieced by: Me and Shelley S.
Fabrics: various prints and solids. I don't know the lines. Also, I don't know if you can see it in the pictures, but the yellow and white both have this beautiful herringbone print that I couldn't get enough of!! Awesome!
Quilting: by me, meandering stipple, FMQ

Wonderful pattern and project!! I sure hope the newlyweds love it!! :)

TGIFF - King Size Edition!

I am so so so thrilled to do this post today!!!! I have a King Size finish to share with you today! YEA!!!

E's King Size Zig Zag Quilt!

I am so thrilled to have finally finished this one! It was a long road! I started this quilt in November. 6 months is the longest I've ever taken on a quilt, by far, but I am so glad that I took my time on this one! I learned so much through this process - perfecting HSTs, making perfect points on Chevrons, LONG ARM QUILTING!! Yes, this has been a wonderful project! And I am so happy that it is going to someone who I just love and  I know will appreciate it!

So, here she is - the gigantic Zig Zag Quilt:

Stats:
Fabrics: various prints from several collections
Backing: an Egyptian cotton sheet that is super soft and totally beautiful
Quilting: long arm quilted by ME with a lovely swirly design
Size: huge. 92 x 107

I am so happy with this quilt. YEA for finishing the longest WIP I've had!! :)

Linking up to TGIFF at Quokka Quilts!!

I still need to get some decent pictures, so look for a post on this one tomorrow or so!! But - YEA!!!!!

Wedding Quilt

Again... IT'S FINISHED!!! I finished the quilting on Monday, and she finished up the binding yesterday. It's washed and ready to go!! YEA!!! I also have to get a few decent shots of this one, so... stay tuned!!! :)

Quilt tops!!!

I have been on a quilt top making rampage! I have two completed tops to show:

Bella Patchwork:

I have had a blast with this one, because my awesome neighbor and I have been tag teaming this one! We each did half of the blocks, then she did the sashing in each row, then I assembled the top! It has come together very well! I love the colors, although I think if I were to do it over I would have like a slightly darker grey in the corners. Oh, well! It looks great!

OSU Father's day top:

Go Beavs! This top came together beautifully and I, at the last minute, decided that it needed a OSU in the corner. My friend agreed, so there it is! I think her hubby will love it!!

WIP Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! This week, I managed to increase my WIP list!! Two new projects! :)

But first, a few finishes:

Teacher Gifts - Sprocket Pillows

I finished all 3 Sprocket Pillows with minutes to spare! lol!! They turned out cute, and the teachers really seemed to like them!

Now, on to the WIPs!!

E's King Size

No progress this week, but I'll be working on the binding this week!!

D&L's Wedding Quilt

My awesome neighbor asked me if I wanted to make a quilt together for a mutual friend's wedding. YES PLEASE!! :) We decided to use Elizabeth's new pattern Bella Patchwork! It is a great pattern! You can order it HERE!

We got the fabric, got it cut and got all 30 blocks sewn in just 3 days. Word. Now, I am going to stitch the top together! The deadline for this is June 2, so it'll be a quicky!! :)

L's Father's Day Quilt

A dear friend of mine commissioned a quilt for her husband for Father's day (June 17th!). I am excited to get it going! He is graduating from Oregon State soon and she wanted it in his school colors! Orange, grey, and black it is!! :)

I love any excuse to use orange! She decided to use THIS pattern! It's going to look awesome!

Well, that's all for this week!! Be sure to check out all the awesome WIPs at Freshly Pieced!

Manly Advice

Something happened this weekend that is... well shocking! Let me fill you in...

Over the weekend I had a friend ask me to make a quilt for her husband for father's day. As we all know, making a quilt for men is challenging. I told my hubby about it, then promptly assumed that he wasn't really paying attention anyway and went on with some planning.

Saturday morning, after my hub's bike ride, out of the blue, he said, "Hon, I was thinking about you man quilt project and I have some input."

WHAT?!?!? Hold on while I pinch myself, then grab a notebook. Or voice recorder. Or video camera.

I know that this information is rare and precious, so I will share with you exactly what he told me. It wasn't much, but it was in fact helpful! Here it is...

1. Men don't really notice the pattern on front, so don't worry too much. Although, simple and geometric is probably better than more complicated designs.

2. Neutral and calming colors, unless you're doing a sports team related idea.

3. Soft, snuggley fabric for the back (yes, he used the word "snuggley" and was referring to what's on the back of his quilt - minky)

4. My hubby's absolute favorite feature on the quilt that I made for him is the stripe on the back.

That blue one. You know, the one I added just to make the back big enough... He said that while he couldn't even tell me what the pattern on the front looks like, he loves the stripe for one reason: it helps him orient the quilt correctly. Every time he pulls the quilt over him, he checks to make sure the stripe is in the right direction. Who knew that would be the winning detail. lol!

So, there  you have it. Some real life input about quilting from a man. Weird day. :)
